Know as"No. 1 Apricot in Northwest China," the Dunhuang Li Guang Apricot is a gem of Gansu Province, honored as a National Geographical Indication product. This sun-kissed fruit weaves together millennia of legend, desert ecology, and unparalleled sweetness, offering a taste of Dunhuang’s rich heritage in every bite.
Grown in Dunhuang, at the western edge of the Hexi Corridor, this apricot thrives in an extreme microclimate: over 3,200 hours of annual sunshine, 15℃+ temperature swings between day and night, and irrigation from melted Qilian Mountain glaciers filtering through sandy soil.
With skin glowing like sunset-hued gold dusted with a delicate white bloom, each apricot weighs 40-60g, offering over 90% edible flesh. Bite into it, and your mouth floods with honeyed juice (18-23°Brix), balanced by a whisper of tartness. The flesh is irresistibly soft and creamy, melting away from the tiny pit—a texture often compared to "desert honey pudding."
Avaliable: Late June to mid-July, with a short harvest window of only ~20 days (extremely early-ripening variety).
